Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

PlaygroundStars is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building a nationwide directory for community based youth sports organizations. Our goal is to make it easier for families to discover local programs and easier for communities to support and strengthen the youth sports experience in their own backyard.

We are starting with visibility and access by creating a community first map of Parks and Recreation departments, nonprofits, schools, and local youth sports programs. Over time, PlaygroundStars will grow into a broader youth sports brand focused on improving the overall experience for families, organizations, and communities.

Youth sports opportunities already exist in most communities, but too often they are fragmented or overlooked. Families are left relying on outdated websites, word of mouth, or platforms that favor organizations with the largest marketing budgets.

PlaygroundStars brings clarity, access, and fairness to the youth sports landscape by making all community based programs easier to discover in one place. This is the first step toward creating a more equitable and connected youth sports experience.

PlaygroundStars begins with a nationwide directory that makes it easy to find community based youth sports organizations in one place. Families can search by location and discover local programs, while organizations gain visibility without needing marketing budgets or technical expertise.

The directory is the foundation. As PlaygroundStars grows, we plan to add new ways for communities to engage, support programs, and strengthen the youth sports experience over time.

PlaygroundStars is for families looking for local youth sports opportunities, for community based organizations serving kids, and for supporters who believe youth sports should be accessible, inclusive, and rooted in community.

The directory includes a wide range of youth sports organizations that are making a positive impact in their communities. This includes Parks and Recreation departments, nonprofits, schools, and local sports programs of all types. Our goal is to reflect the full youth sports landscape in each community and make it easier for families to discover programs that serve kids well and strengthen local participation.

Yes. PlaygroundStars is committed to ensuring youth sports focused nonprofit organizations can be discovered without paying for visibility. Any youth sports focused nonprofit will have access to the directory and all current and future platform enhancements at no cost always.

For profit youth sports organizations are also welcome to be listed in the directory at no cost. They may choose to enhance their presence for a small fee, which helps support Playgroundstars’ nonprofit mission. These enhancements are designed to be comparable to what nonprofit organizations receive for free, ensuring a fair and balanced experience across the platform.

Donations support the development, expansion, and maintenance of the nationwide youth sports directory. This includes building the map, organization and maintaining data, onboarding organizations, and ensuring communities are represented accurately and fairly.

Your support also helps protect our commitment to keeping PlaygroundStars free for all youth sports focused nonprofits.

Donations allow PlaygroundStars to expand into more communities, improve the directory experience, and thoughtfully develop additional features that strengthen how families, organizations, and communities engage with their local youth sports experience.

We are building intentionally, with equity, access, and community trust at the center of every decision.
