Johnny Dawkins is one of the most accomplished basketball players ever produced by Washington, D.C. Raised in the nation's capital, Dawkins starred at Mackin Catholic High School before taking his talents to Duke University. At Duke, he became one of the greatest players in program history, scoring a then-school-record 2,556 career points and leading the Blue Devils to the 1986 NCAA Championship Game. A two-time All-American and recipient of the prestigious Naismith College Player of the Year Award, Dawkins helped transform Duke into a national powerhouse while becoming one of the most respected student-athletes in college basketball.
