Bio

Tim Legler is a remarkable example of perseverance, intelligence, and determination in professional sports. Born in Washington, D.C., Legler built his basketball career through hard work rather than hype, developing into a standout player at La Salle University. There, he became both an Academic All-American and one of the most accomplished players in school history, scoring 1,699 career points while maintaining an outstanding academic record. Legler helped lead La Salle to the 1987 National Invitation Tournament championship game and the 1988 NCAA Tournament, proving that excellence in the classroom and on the court can go hand in hand. His journey reflects the value of discipline, preparation, and a commitment to continuous improvement.nnDespite going undrafted in 1988, Legler refused to give up on his NBA dream. He spent years battling through minor leagues and overseas competition before finally establishing himself in the NBA. Known as one of the most accurate shooters of his generation, Legler enjoyed his greatest success with the Washington Bullets and Washington Wizards, becoming one of the league's premier three-point specialists. In 1996, he won the NBA Three-Point Contest and led the league in three-point shooting percentage, while finishing his career with one of the highest three-point percentages in NBA history. Following his playing career, Legler successfully transitioned into broadcasting, becoming one of the most respected basketball analysts at ESPN and a trusted voice for fans and players alike. His story demonstrates that persistence, education, and dedication can create lasting success both during and after an athletic career.
