Yannick Ngakou

Yannick Ngakoue is one of the most accomplished defensive football players to emerge from Washington, D.C. Born to a Cameroonian father and Martiniquais mother, Ngakoue grew up in the District and attended Friendship Collegiate Academy, where he quickly established himself as one of the nation's premier defensive prospects. As a senior, he recorded 17 sacks and was named Washington, D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year. His combination of speed, strength, and relentless pursuit of the quarterback earned him four-star recruit status and a scholarship to the University of Maryland. At Maryland, Ngakoue continued to develop into an elite pass rusher, setting a school record with 13.5 sacks in his final collegiate season before declaring for the NFL Draft.nnSelected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ngakoue quickly outperformed his draft position and became one of the league's most productive edge rushers.
